Lacanche Range Cookers
A foundry was first established in the village of Lacanche in the late 15th century by the Duke of Burgundy. In 1763, local landowner Jean-Baptiste Richard de Curtil constructed a blast furnace on the site, expanding the foundry’s capabilities. After the French Revolution, in 1796, Jacques‑Étienne Caumartin—known as the Maitre de Forges de Lacanche—began manufacturing cast‑iron range cookers to serve the growing restaurant and hotel industries. Since then, both commercial and domestic range cookers have been handcrafted in Lacanche for more than two centuries.
Two hundred years later, the factory remains independent and family‑owned. The family and its employees are guided by a simple belief: that even in the modern age, it is still worth creating products of substance, beauty, and longevity. This philosophy continues to inspire every aspect of the factory’s work.
Lacanche range cookers are built to exacting standards and handcrafted to order. Each cooker is designed to last a lifetime, offering professional‑grade performance and exceptional versatility. Customers can choose from a wide selection of hob configurations, oven sizes, dual‑fuel options, and integrated hob elements. Every Lacanche range can be specified for natural gas, LPG, or all‑electric operation.
The performance of each range cooker is matched by the quality of its finish. Every panel is hand‑enamelled with three layers of enamel and then fired at 850ºC. This produces a deep, intense, and durable colour that is easy to clean and will look as striking after twenty years as it did the day it left the kiln.
In the UK, Lacanche has been a success for over 20 years. Many of the country’s most respected chefs, cooks, food writers, and journalists own or use a Lacanche range cooker. Among them are Raymond Blanc, Simon Rogan, Jean‑Christophe Novelli, Kevin Woodford, Rose Prince, and Delia’s Canary Catering, to name just a few
