Founded in 2009, Solarcrest was built on a clear mission: to help people create the healthiest, most comfortable, and most economical homes possible - while reducing CO₂ emissions from the built environment. Almost 100 years of combined MVHR experience has taught us three key lessons. First, MVHR is the most critical component of a modern, future-proof home - for health, comfort, and efficiency. Without it, you can’t be airtight, and without airtightness, you’ll never be low energy. Fit the best system you can find not the cheapest - it needs to run forever. Second, MVHR should take precedence over plumbing, electric appliances, and renewables like heat pumps or solar when budgeting, allocating space, and designing the building structure and fabric. For an ultra quiet, efficient system, the house should be designed around the ventilation to some extent, not the other way around. Third, to guarantee success, MVHR should be considered even before submitting your planning application. Ventilation helps tackle overheating - now a major challenge due to global warming. Some of the mitigation measures may require planning too, so it’s faster and cheaper to get everything right from the start.
