Stephen and Helen were returning clients, having previously helped to create a garden space in their former historic barn house, a few years later they came back to us with a new site and a new ambition to build a home suited perfectly to their needs.

 The site sits within a conservation area, so the design had to respond sensitively to its surroundings, especially at the front. To the rear, there was more freedom, and we worked closely with the clients to create their dream space of a modern open-plan living space that flowed seamlessly into the garden.

Thanks to creative thinking and a constructive relationship with the local Conservation Officer, the finished project is a high-quality, two-storey home that balances the scale of the surroundings with the addition of new contemporary character. Testament to this the project won and LABC Award and was Shortlisted for the National Homebuilding and Renovation Awards in 2022.
