    The Self-Build Market

Usually, a self-build project is completed within 10 months of the start date, a relatively quick turn around which represents a fresh audience of self-builders annually.

The self-build market is more buoyant than ever before, and is steadily growing in popularity with more and more individuals building or renovating their own homes.

    The Renovation Market

Planning applications from householders have almost doubled over the last ten years, with more than 483,500 between March 2010 and March 2011 (an increase of 4% in the previous 12 month period). Of these over 355,000 were approved by local/district councils (up 6% YOY).

Many of these applications are for modest improvements such as rear extensions and dormer windows.

Both the self-build and renovation markets have become an increasingly important sector of the UK building industry and offer companies targeting this sector a lucrative return on investment.
