Come and see these LIVE demonstrations focusing on time-honoured building skills and techniques, many of which have been revived recently and play an important role today both in new build and restoration works, and offering truly unique solutions using natural materials  in both traditional and contemporary projects.

The live demonstrations are brought to you by Carpenter Oak Ltd, covering techniques and skills such as cob, clay plastering, the use of natural finishing powders and paints, Moroccan tadelakt techniques, wood products for render and roofing, lime rendering and more. Understand how these methods work and where you can use them in your home. 


Carpenter Oak Ltd

Carpenter Oak will be demonstrating traditional carpentry techniques. They design, produce and erect hand-made oak frames for houses and extensions. They are also exhibiting on Stand No. H111 across the aisle where you can view previous projects, meet and get advice from architects, timber framers, glazing experts, other members of the build team.

Clayworks Ltd

Clayworks Ltd will be demonstrating clay plastering techniques. They are an award-winning Cornish company with a client base ranging from HRH Prince Charles to Nando’s restaurants. They manufacture and sell clay plasters to clients who seek beauty, health and comfort all in one product, and aim to meet the needs of self-builders and renovators with finishes that can be self-applied.

Mike Wye & Associates

Mike Wye & Associates will be demonstrating traditional lime plastering and the stunning Moroccan tadelakt finishing. They are manufacturers and suppliers of traditional building materials. Comprising of a specialised workforce, warehouse team and technical sales department, they offer practical advice and services on high quality products such as traditional lime mortars and plasters, natural insulation, decorating products and more.

Joe Coyle Timber Products Ltd

Coyle Timber Products will be demonstrating how to split and fit oak and chestnut roof tiles. They are the leading manufacturers of Oak and Chestnut shakes in the U.K. All tiles are traditionally, hand made using timber from sustainable sources in England and Wales. Originally they started producing shakes to meet the demand for the restoration of Church steeples, but in recent years Coyle Timber have been specified more and more on new builds.
